“I was driving down the interstate with my 2004 f-350 dually with my dump trailer on the back. I was headed down a slight hill when the steering wheel started to shake. The front wheels started to move back and forth from left to right and right to left very fast but in short strokes. The shaking and the strokes began to get longer so the wheels were turning more and more each time the wheels turned back and forth.. The shaft that comes of of the steering box that goes to the pitman arm sheared in half. This caused me to loose control of the truck because I had no steering. …”

NHTSA complaint #10511809, filed 2013-05, 120,000 miles

“2005 Ford f-350 crew cab dually, 2 wheel drive experienced front wheel oscillation (aka death wobble ) while traveling at 65 MPH on interstate 10 eastbound near blythe, ca. The truck shook so bad I nearly drove off the highway before I slowed down enough for it to damp out and stop shaking. I had a slide in camper on the truck at the time. I understand this is an issue with these f-series Ford pick up trucks and Ford has done little to resolve it. The truck is pure stock with only 35,600 miles on it. My examination of the steering linkage revealed no loose or worn ball joints or tie rod ends.”

NHTSA complaint #10302375, filed 2010-01, 35,600 miles

“When going around curves, hitting small bumps, or stopping, the front end starts to shake violently. Slowing down or stopping is the only way to stop the shaking. The truck has been taken to several repair shops with no avail. They can't find anything wrong. This problem is very dangerous. I'm getting scared to drive it.”

NHTSA complaint #11004242, filed 2017-07, 125,000 miles

While driving on a side street at approximately 15 MPH, there was a total loss of steering control the vehicle crashed into a chain link fence as the driver was trying to brake to a stop. NHTSA complaint #10606293, filed 2014-06, 96,000 miles
