“Problems with inserting and/or removing the key from the ignition key slot. I was unable to reinsert the key to start the ignition until I used powder graphite and tapped the key in place. Once the key was in, it became very difficult to remove. I've ended up leaving the key in the key slot and using a second key fob to lock and unlock the doors.”

NHTSA complaint #10378929, filed 2011-01, 106,000 miles

“I now have a problem with the transmission. The mechanic thinks it is a filter or switch that keeps the oil level in the transmission when turning right. My car shuts off when I make right turns. I have spent way too much money and still owe on this car..frankly I would like to turn it in! Has lot of repair needs too much money. I had all of the recall work done also”

NHTSA complaint #10070598, filed 2004-01, 62,000 miles

“Brakes failed which caused crash. The very day back brakes were fixed, the front brakes then went out within a month, resulting in almost another accident. Even though Ford recalled this back in 2000, (bought car in 2005) they are refusing to fix it. There have been 14 total recalls, all seem to be wrong with my car too. I should have done my homework prior to buying but why was anyone even able to sell this to me considering all the recalls?”

NHTSA complaint #10213509, filed 2008-01, 61,000 miles

“The main concern I have is that I have had this car in 4 times now for rear wheel bearings. My other issue is that when the actuator in the rear drivers door went out that all the locks and windows freeze up in the locked position it that is where they were at when it dies. Not the key, manually or remote will wor. This to me is a saftey issue, you could potentially be locked into your vehicle with no way out.”

NHTSA complaint #10069884, filed 2004-01, 71,573 miles

“I have a Ford Focus 2001 and the key got stuck in the ignition. I wasn't able to put the key in or remove it. I took my car to the Ford dealership and had to pay 350.00 to get it fixed.”

NHTSA complaint #10342497, filed 2010-07, 10,000 miles
