“The brakes of my car went completely out. Even while in 'park,' the car would move. It was towed to local dealership where we were told the brake booster needed to be replaced. Luckily, when this happened, I was going at a very slow rate of speed on a city street and was able to use my emergency brake to avoid an accident.”
NHTSA complaint #11089083, filed 2018-04, 59,000 miles“Today, 21 february 2017 - 6:50pm, on our way home approaching crowley road in burleson, texas, the brake system started warning there was a problem with the brakes. We stopped the car in the middle of traffic because the braking became unstable and were almost rear ended. We turned the vehicle off, waited about 2 minutes and turned it back on. We continued at a slow pace until we arrived home and the brake system was still displaying an error. The emergency brake would not set either. I decided to run a vehicle safety report. …”
NHTSA complaint #10956175, filed 2017-02, 13,325 miles“When a door is opened while the car is stationary but in gear or the brakes are applied while on an incline and the vehicle stops on an incline, the parking brake engages but the dashboard light does not illuminate. When the parking brake is on, the brake pedal must be applied and the emergency brake electronic switch pressed to disengage. The parking brake. The indicator light not illuminating initially caused confusion and worry that something was wrong with the vehicle until I was able to troubleshoot and reproduce the issue at will.”
NHTSA complaint #11047328, filed 2017-11, 34,000 miles“My car has approximately 110,000 miles on it. For the last 6 months, I've been getting alerts on my dashboard ( Service Advance Trak , Hill Start Not Available , and one or two others). This happens at slow speeds and when turning. When these alerts start, I lose power steering. I've also noticed that when I apply brakes at slow speeds, the ABS engages for a few seconds. I was told by the dealer that it was the engine control module. I had it replaced and reprogrammed. However, the alerts and loss of power steering still happens though not as much.”
NHTSA complaint #11439311, filed 2021-11“My Ford Fusion hybrid is no longer safe to drive. I keep it parked in front of my work. I’ve had 2 Mechanics I know personally look at it and they both say the break line is cracked and is spraying out break fluid. I was driving in a stormy day and all of the sudden the break light, traction control light, slippery roads light, abs light, and advance service tech appeared. All at once I knew to drive slow and safe since I had no traction control. I restarted my car and all the lights disappeared. Than as I’m driving the next day, Low break fluid was on the screen but for only a second. …”
