NHTSA complaint #11192918, filed 2019-04, 112,580 miles“While driving 20 MPH in my suburban neighborhood. Brakes failed without warning. The brake pedal travel increased significantly. The dealership informed me it was an antilock braking system (ABS) hydraulic control unit (hcu) failure. Cost estimate is $1,000 to replace.”
NHTSA complaint #11206124, filed 2019-05, 122,500 miles“I was driving and making a left turn. Brakes went very soft and had to press brake pedal to floor to get it to stop. Brake warning light and anti-skid lights illuminated on dashboard. Took a long time to bring car to a stop. Took the car to the Ford dealership and, although a couple of hybrid warning lights came up on the computer, they were unable to diagnose the problem. I am still driving the vehicle but do not feel that it is safe.”
