“Car told me to pull over safely. Everything locked up. The steering wheel got real tight and would not turn. I took it to a Ford dealership to have fixed and they said the power steering box went out. The car was in motion. I was on my way to work.”

NHTSA complaint #11011360, filed 2017-07, 83,000 miles

“I was just driving along on a city street going about 40 MPH, and all of a sudden all the dashboard lights lit up, and I couldn't break very easily. I was in the middle of traffic, and I was worried someone was going to hit me, or I wasn't going to be able to break if someone cut me off. My car had been so reliable until that moment. My car didn't break the way it always did. It took a lot more pressure to break than normal, and the breaking was very delayed. I had a few very close calls, before I could pull over. It was scary! …”

NHTSA complaint #10986304, filed 2017-05, 126,332 miles

“December 31, 2018 ' while driving through city, I attempted to use the brakes and they did not response. I was able to cut the engine and pull over to the side of the road with spouse and children in vehicle. Error message stating ABS brake system was not responding and a false positive tire sensor. January 2, 2018 ' took car into dealership. Technicians unable to replicate problem though they found the error code in system. Technician replaced brakes, calipers, and reset error code. January 27, 2018 ' same error message occurred with brakes failing in apartment parking lot. …”

NHTSA complaint #11067010, filed 2018-02, 126,121 miles

“On saturday, 8-18-18, at about 10:15 am, turned left onto woodward avenue heading north (fast lane - 3rd lane from the right), in the middle of the historic woodward dream cruise. I got a red message to pull over to a safe place. This was very distressing as there were a lot of vehicles doing the cruise and no safe or free place to actually park a disabled vehicle. Limp-along mode got me off woodward looking for a place to pull over. A couple blocks down, it died at a stop light in a residential neighborhood. I figured some software gremlin had killed my car, so I called a tow truck. …”

NHTSA complaint #11140172, filed 2018-10, 115,648 miles

“After switching the gear shift from the park position, I immediately noticed my brakes failed and my vehicle began rolling forward. The vehicle stopped after placing a substantial amount of pressure on the brakes. After turning the vehicle on and off the two symptoms went away. Later that day the same issue happened for the second time while my vehicle was stationary. The third time that this issue occurred I was driving on a highway and almost went into opposing traffic. The service light turns off after restarting the car but returns later that day. …”
