“As I was driving to the store the power steering service light came on and the service advance trac and it become hard to steer.. So now its parked because dealership said it would cost $1500 to fix which I don't have .. After research most models just 2011 and up have this recall. I think 2010 should also be a recall their are several complaints about it”
NHTSA complaint #11003274, filed 2017-07, 142,300 miles“My daughter was driving home from store going 25 miles hour and the power steering suddenly went out. We have checked to see if this car is on recall list and it is not but it says online it has the same parts that were recalled on the 2011 fusion. This is very dangerous if it happened on freeway. This needs to be addressed.”
NHTSA complaint #11057105, filed 2017-12, 71,000 miles“While making a left turn I seemed to loose control of the steering and hit the opposite curb so hard that a large chunk was torn in both passenger side tires. I was driving on a suburban street and had a left turn traffic signal. I did not know how it happened and called aaa to be towed to a station and had to purchase two new tires.”
NHTSA complaint #10911389, filed 2016-10, 21,500 miles“While on travel, I went to start my car and got a warning message that the power steering needed to be serviced. There was no earlier indication (noise, periodic failure, etc.) that power steering was on the way out. Thankfully I was not driving at the time. Online research revealed a recall for nearly all later models 2011-2015, but not mine for the exact same issue.”
NHTSA complaint #10906887, filed 2016-09, 83,000 miles“While driving I received the following warning indicators on the dashboard service power steering now and service advance trac luckily I was driving on local roads and not at highway speeds. I cannot imagine the panic and danger posed to myself and others if I lost power steering on the highway. This is definitely a very serious hazard and should be recalled before someone looses their life.”
