“When steering the car in a turn, such as on and off ramps, the steering wheel will jerk in the direction of steering and the (tcs) traction control system light comes on. This began happening after taking the car to the dealership to have a recalled steering bolt replaced. I have taken the car to three Ford dealerships, and none of them can find anything wrong. I took the car to the Ford dealership recently on 2-26-2121 and was told that the steering ball joint needed to be replaced for $610.00 which I found absurd.”

NHTSA complaint #11399248, filed 2021-03, 45,000 miles

“Good afternoon, I want to bring this to your attention. I don't know if it's a problem with Ford or with me. So please bear with me. I just purchased the above vehicle about 3 weeks ago. It is brand new. This vehicle comes with a feature called active park assist. It is new to me and have never owned a vehicle with this feature previously. Yesterday, I used it for the first time. I turned it on and let it parallel park for me. I followed the directions on the vehicle video screen and took my hands of the wheel. The vehicle then backed into the space and struck the car parked behind. …”

NHTSA complaint #10712048, filed 2015-04, 1,300 miles

“Steering wheel came loose coming out of parking garage and almost wrecked. Dealer stated they tightened the bolt and hopefully it doesn't come loose again. Have had the transmission cooler replaced at 300 miles which broke down on highway. Emergency brake warning came on driving down freeway emergency brake initiated causing car to stop and almost wreck. The dealer said they fixed a sensor.”

NHTSA complaint #11040990, filed 2017-10, 21,000 miles

“Safety recall 15s14 - steering gear motor bolt failure. Ford issued recall 15s14 which impacted my vehicle. The press release states: customers located in non-corrosion states or provinces will be covered by extended warranty if they experience similar concerns. Dealers will replace steering gear motor attachment bolts on customer vehicles with new bolts, seal them, and replace damaged steering gears at no cost to the customer. …”
