Example complaints
Steering: “When steering the car in a turn, such as on and off ramps, the steering wheel will jerk in the direction of steering and the (tcs) traction control system light comes on. This began happening after taking the car to the dealership to have a recalled steering bolt replaced. I have taken the car to three Ford dealerships, and none of them can find anything wrong. I took the car to the Ford dealership recently on 2-26-2121 and was told that the steering ball joint needed to be replaced for $610.00 which I found absurd.”
NHTSA complaint #11399248, filed 2021-03, 45,000 milesBrakes: “The brakes of my car went completely out. Even while in 'park,' the car would move. It was towed to local dealership where we were told the brake booster needed to be replaced. Luckily, when this happened, I was going at a very slow rate of speed on a city street and was able to use my emergency brake to avoid an accident.”
NHTSA complaint #11089083, filed 2018-04, 59,000 milesElectrical system: “The door latch of the rear left door won't latch. I am unable to close the door (door stays open, unlocked). I tried numerous times to shut the door closed unsuccessfully. The car was stationary this morning when I went and opened the door, but when I tried to close I notice the door stays loose open.”
NHTSA complaint #11320251, filed 2020-04, 99,110 milesTransmission and drivetrain: “This car has been in twice for a cam position sensor. The first time the part totally failed and left us on the road side on a very dangerous stretch of hwy 101 and was replaced. 1708 miles later the check engine light came on again. The code was p0340 again. We were told that the issue could not be duplicated through a dealer road test and we were charged $190.00 for the diagnostics. The first time this issue occurred, we had brought the vehicle in for a safety recall. When we picked the car up, this was the first instance of the failure of this component. This has caused us grave concern. …”
