“Power door lock on pass. Side inoperative tires in rear of vehicle wear on inner side, have tried numerous times to have alignment done at different maintenance facilities. Transmission has intermittent shift problems (surges) between 3-4 gears when car is warm. At present time it is a constant issue now and it is my only vehicle. Airbag light is on most of the time but sometimes cycles off.”

NHTSA complaint #10069036, filed 2004-01, 70,000 miles

“Blown head gaskets and cracked aluminum heads. Found that replacing thermostat 15 degrees cooler ie(195 factory change to 108 degree) works much better. Also never use 50/50 or water with aluminum heads.”

NHTSA complaint #10314985, filed 2010-02, 125,000 miles

“The car will downshift and the RPM will increase to 3500-4000 while driving on the freeway. This problem occurs at random, at various speeds, and frequently. I took to transmission shop and they said the transmission checked out ok. I have read many simular complaints of this same problem on this site. Why hasn't action been taken to get to the bottom of this before someone gets hurt? Dt”

NHTSA complaint #769351, filed 2002-11

“Like everyone else I am having severe problems with transmission slipping. Also with the transmission getting stuck in neutral. Due to this problem and many others and fords unwillingness to fess up to their mistakes they have lost business from me and my family for life.”

NHTSA complaint #10078984, filed 2004-06

“My transmission went out I took it in to have it looked at it was still under warrenty they rebuilt it, and at that time I had the dealer look at the fuse problem they said it was some wire near the seat track soo they replaced it. It worked for a little while well the warranty is no longer valid and the fuse continues to blow I have to put a new fuse in every time I need to move the seat I only get one shot at it for it will blow in a few seconds I have'nt taken it back.”
