“I was driving home from work at approximately 65mph when my transmission shifted and slammed back into gear. I stopped in a safe location, cut the car off and then back on, but the transmission is still slipping. The dealership was notified of powertrain, electrical, and oil consumption issues at three different service appointments, but the manufacturer has been no help at all. Had I not known what to do, this could have been a completely different scenario.”
NHTSA complaint #11635774, filed 2025-01“2024 Ford Mustang has shown severe defects since September of 2025. Vehicle has been in and out of shop every month since first incident of vehicle going completely dead without cause or warning. Vehicle has since produced escalating engine misfires, loss of acceleration while driving on highway, and occasional antifreeze seeping through a/c vents on startup. Dash has started to glitch upon startup as well and fuel economy has dropped 7mpg in one month. Every Ford dealership I have went to for repairs, except for Town and Country Ford, has told me, there's no issue with your vehicle . …”
NHTSA complaint #11767404, filed 2026-09“I am filing a safety complaint regarding an open manufacturer recall on my vehicle that has not been completed despite being scheduled for repair. On or about 2/16/2026, I scheduled the recall repair with an authorized dealership/service center. The repair was accepted and scheduled; however, the repair has not been completed to date. It has now been approximately 50 days (or more) since the scheduled appointment, and the recall remedy remains unresolved. Despite multiple attempts to follow up, the repair has not been performed, and no reasonable timeline has been provided for completion. …”
NHTSA complaint #11729817, filed 2026-04“I purchased this vehicle CPO and shortly after purchase the vehicle experienced a major mechanical failure involving the clutch/transmission. The vehicle had a prior safety recall (Recall #24S36) listed as “completed” before I purchased it. However, the issue has now reoccurred despite that recall being marked as repaired. The dealership is now claiming the failure is due to “wear and tear,” but the failure occurred after only approximately 1,000 miles of driving since purchase, which raises concern that the defect existed prior to sale or that the recall repair was not properly completed. …”
NHTSA complaint #11732865, filed 2026-04“The shift knob in this car has an issue where the silver ABS plastic piece with the gear numbers and the shift pattern detaches from the rest of the shift knob. This issue has been confirmed and repaired by a Ford dealer twice already in the 9 months I have owned the car. The first time this issue occurred, the silver piece was loose. Before it completely detached, I was able to get it repaired at a Ford dealer. The issue was confirmed by the dealer in the receipt they gave me: Verified customer concern, shifter knob loose, the aluminum to the leather, replaced shifter knob. …”
