“1995 Ford Mustang, 6 cyl. The rubber seal between the gas tank and the filler tube is leaking. This is the second time in two years that this has happened. The seal was replaced two years ago, and will have to be replaced again. The leak is substantial, it is a steady drip, 1/2 gallon per hour.”

NHTSA complaint #10003306, filed 2003-01, 65,000 miles

“Consumer states while walking outside of vehicle can strongly smell a gasoline odor. The seal between fuel filler neck and fuel tank junction deteriorated and caused fuel to leak onto the ground while refueling the vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #10024969, filed 2003-07, 75,134 miles

“Gas tank burst a spraying leak of fuel at the side filler tube connector without an accident occuring. Approximately five gallons of fuel sprayed out, causing fuel to run out on the bottom of the chassis and dripping out on the sides of the car. My wife's shoes and feet were soaked with gasoline from just standing by the car. This leak is not from a breather tube at the top of the tank. This leak is at the middle right side of the tank at the filler tube connection. Has a recall been recognized? This could be disasterous in an impact auto crash! …”

NHTSA complaint #10058725, filed 2004-02, 139,000 miles

“While driving, engine light came on; then, vehicle start overheating. Took vehicle to dealer and they found out that engine had a blown head gasket. Dealer could not fix it, instead wanted to replace it. The timing chain cover had a leak. The vehicle's entire engine needed replaced. The vehicle was smoking and overheating after repair because intake manifold gasket was not replaced.”

NHTSA complaint #8003660, filed 2002-02

“Baught car in august of 2000, drove it one week and it has been in the shop numerous times for various items fixed; ie; overheated twice then blew headgasket, drivers rear rotor caught on fire, recall on hood which was separating, major fuel leak, fuel hose by fuel tank, water leak from timing cover gasket”

NHTSA complaint #731034, filed 2000-09
