Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I was parked when I turn on the car and saw the engine light came up. The car is about 68000 miles and it's having a higher gas consumption and the engine light code ' p0456' evaporative emission system leak. And passenger from seat belt broke. The part that holds the seat belt in place.”

NHTSA complaint #11352407, filed 2020-08, 68,000 miles

“My 2013 Ford Mustang would lose engine power at highway speed. Would still run very rough, chugging at about idle. After a re-start it would run for a short time and repeat the event. Had the throttle body replace with a new Ford one and the problem returned two weeks later. The wrench light would come on and I would lose power. Very dangerous at freeway travel. Ford says their recall does not apply to mustangs.”

NHTSA complaint #11192081, filed 2019-03, 111,034 miles

“Vehicle lost power while driving, engine wrench light came on, driveable but only in limp mode. After restart, engine appeared to work fine, however, same issue reoccurred several more times and continues to happen-similar to other Ford vehicle throttle body recalls. Major safety issue as complete vehicle shutdown occurs without warning. No recall yet.”

NHTSA complaint #10871628, filed 2016-05, 32,100 miles

“# 1 steering/suspension noise in the front of the car (bushing - cr3z-3078-c and cr3z-3079-c arm asy).# 2 fsa 12e06 powertrain control module.# 3 check fuel fill inlet.”

The contact stated that the “Check Fuel Inlet” message was displayed, and the emissions warning light was illuminated. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 138,000.”
