“When I first got the car in 2007 about a week later got off the freeway got to the stop light the car shut off no warning signs, I was able to start the right up. The car has done this a few times (6) no mechanic can tell why this happens. I'm afraid that one day I'm going to be on the freeway and the car is going to stop and their is going to be a deadly accident.”
NHTSA complaint #10691282, filed 2015-02, 102,523 miles“Harmonic balancer/crankshaft pulley came apart on a 2007 Ford Mustang v6 while driving. It had less than 37000 miles on it. Luckily, all that happened was serpentine belt slipped off, which I realized immediately when I lost power steering. I was near home and got home safely. This could be a major problem if it happened at highway speed. Replaced by my mechanic, who says that he has seen this numerous time in the past, and that Ford now sells an updated part for the vehicle. This suggest to me they know there is a problem, but don't want to pay to replace it.”
NHTSA complaint #10422501, filed 2011-08, 37,000 miles“I pulled off the freeway into a rest stop area. My foot was on the brake, and only on the brake. I stopped in a parking space and moved the automatic transmission lever from drive to park. The RPM instantly increased from approximately 600 RPM in drive to approximately 6000 RPM in park. I took my foot off the brake pedal and gave the gas pedal a quick tap. The RPM returned to normal, about 750 RPM in park. The dealership inspected the car, but could not find anything wrong. They contacted Ford, who maintained the incident could not have happened the way I described it. …”

He was traveling at 25 MPH, but does not remember what speed the vehicle reached before he was able to stop. The contact stated that he stepped on the brake and turned the power off to the engine to slow down the vehicle and coasted to the side of the road. There were no warning indicators or lights. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle and the throttle again became stuck. The failure mileage was 2489 miles. The vehicle was towed to a Ford dealership. …”
