“I recently went for a inspection sticker and was informed that my parking brake wasn't holding. I have changed the parking brake cables but the car still has the same issue . It will hold and the car keeps moving at all times and intervals. I had never used the emergency brake so I don't know how long its been happening until now.”

All of the sudden the car started speeding up on its own. I took my foot off the gas pedal and I hit the brakes to try to slow down and nothing happened. The car continued to speed up on its own. My speed got up to about 40 MPH when I came up on a curve. I slammed on the brakes again and tried to turn the wheel but I had no control over the car at this point. …”

When I began to turn, my car started to accelerate way faster than it should have. I hit the brakes but my car wasn't slowing down and kept accelerating. I hit the off on my cruise control thinking maybe it became active but nothing happened, as I began to come close to the car ahead of me I turned left onto the next street still hitting my brakes (at this point I had gone a block and a half with my brake pedal pressed in). …”
NHTSA complaint #10594622, filed 2014-05, 74,875 miles“On three occassions now, december 29, 2007, january 19, 2008 and january 20, 2008, the parking brake on my car seems to freeze . I put the parking brake on because it is a manual transmission and when releasing it, it does not. I am unable to drive the car further than a few feet. I can smell burning rubber and feel the drag on the rear wheels. I can hear it also. This has occurred when the temperature has been below 32 degrees.”

I now warn anyone who has to drive my car that it drives by itself. I have received dirty looks from people, been yelled out, due to this problem. It accelerates on its own. I will be behind someone at a light, foot on brake and it will start revving. They think I am messing with them. I will be in neutral and it will drive faster. I will be in reverse slowly and it floors. I had to be taken to emergency by a neighbor. …”
