“'my 2015 Ford Taurus while driving at 70 MPH on the freeway in traffic the engine stalls leaving me with no power to control my speed. As my car quickly reduces speed on a major freeway I attempt to get over to the shoulder out of harms way. This is a very dangerous situation. I cannot believe Ford has not done a recall on this.”
NHTSA complaint #10924822, filed 2016-11, 11,000 miles“Bought car in june of 2018. No problems until about a month ago, when engine began accelerating on its own, sometimes in park after starting, or when idling in drive at a light in traffic. Must press hard on brake to keep it from moving until I can put it in neutral, where it really races even louder for about a minute, then runs normal. Has happened about a 10 times. Finally quit driving it until I took it in to a Ford dealer and it happened again that morning. Left it there and was told a few days later that it hasn't happened when they drove it. …”
NHTSA complaint #11209919, filed 2019-05, 37,000 miles“While I was merging into traffic onto an interstate, during rush hour, the car quit accelerating. Suddenly, there was no ability to control engine speed. As I glanced at the dash I noticed the wrench warning light and it said see manual. I was almost side swiped by another vehicle but was able avoid the car and was able to coast to a stop on the side of the interstate. When I pressed the button, the car shut off and when I depressed it again, the car started. I was able to merge into traffic and head home. One the way home, on the interstate, the same vehicle malfunction occurred again. …”
NHTSA complaint #10882884, filed 2016-07, 6,470 miles“2015 Ford Taurus sel 3.5l ecoboost flex fuel has vibrations at idle and speeds of 60-70 MPH. Vibration does not always occur at idle or at high speeds, usually happens during deceleration, and sometimes happens at low speeds as well. Was told by Ford dealer that other similar models were test driven to compare, and these vibrations are normal for similar cars. …”
NHTSA complaint #11023886, filed 2017-09, 9,000 miles“Driving on the highway at 70 MPH experienced sudden loss of engine power- no limp home mode just loss of acceleration - coasted to the side of the road. After turning car off and back on was able to continue driving. Only error shown was see manual. Failed three more times before I could get off the road - known problem with throttle body - extremely dangerous situation as you can can have difficulty getting off the road crossing several lanes. This should be a major recall. If you are not able to get off the road in time you will most likely experience being rear ended on the highway. …”
