“This issue occurred about 4 months ago when driving normally. Then, today we were driving up a hill and it started to accelerate without me pushing the gas pedal. The only way to get it to stop was to put it in park and turn the car off but, kept occurring when I turned the car back on. Putting it in neutral did not work.we were in the middle of our city.”
NHTSA complaint #11118939, filed 2018-08, 88,000 miles“As I was driving to work on the highway the car began to accelerate by itself the brakes were not able to slow the car down the brakes were grinding it against the accelerator the accelerator or the grpm was over 3000 I managed to get the car off of the highway was able to pull into a parking lot but the car would not stop and so I wound up having to hit a pole to stop the car”
NHTSA complaint #11258745, filed 2019-09, 180,000 miles“While driving down first street in winter haven, florida the vehicle began to accelerate even though the cruise control was not engaged. The only way to prevent an accident was to put the gear shift in neutral because the engine was overriding the brakes. I had the cruise control disconnected and I haven't had that problem since.”
NHTSA complaint #11102027, filed 2018-06, 100,500 miles“The gas pedal was stuck and I could not slow down, I put the car in neutral and stepped on the gas pedal hard and the rpms lowered and I could drive normal again, I did a search on the internet and the speed control cable is the cause, sure enough I looked under the hood after my search and it was disconnected and was interfering with the throttle.”
NHTSA complaint #10672584, filed 2015-01, 63,493 miles“I have a 05 Ford Taurus with the same exact symptoms as the previous year Taurus had wich lead to a recall. My cruise control cable will come off the throttle body holding the throttle open and revving at 4 grand when pit in neutral to resolve the issue. After a week of disputing with the car dealership, they finally fixed it at no charge.”
