“My daughter was driving down the road going 35 MPH, when there was sudden acceleration and the pedal got stuck. The engine was at about 4,000 RPM. There was no traffic, so she was able to pull over and shut the car off, however, it was extremely difficult for her to brake. This is the second time this has happened, and we recently had the transmission and the accelerator wiring replaced.”

NHTSA complaint #10684061, filed 2015-02, 92,000 miles

“While traveling at 35 mile per hour the I removed my foot from the accelerator and the car continued in a manner as if it was on cruise control. I tapped the pedal a few times and put my foot behind and pulled and it released. Earlier my daughter was driving the car and reported that it accelerated and would not stop so she pulled into a parking lot nearly missing another vehicle and she turned the vehicle off.”

NHTSA complaint #10702281, filed 2015-03, 102,000 miles

“Vehicle accelerated unexpectedly and speed continued to increase even though I removed my foot from the accelerator. I put the vehicle in neutral - the engine was running at this point at nearly 4000 RPM - and pressed quickly on the accelerator. This stopped the acceleration and the engine returned to normal RPM. This scenario was repeated two more times before I arrived at my destination.”

NHTSA complaint #10490825, filed 2013-01, 105,000 miles

“Transmission went out on my 2005 Ford Taurus sel. There is less than 65,000 miles on this car. The manufacturer should issue a recall on the transmission of this model year. Transmission issues are the number one complaint on all the websites I visited. I now have to pay $3,000+ to fix the transmission on a car worth $7,500 - this is not a good quality vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #10424365, filed 2011-09, 65,000 miles

“The torque converter on my 2005 Taurus broke (69000) which prevented me from engaging a gear. I was in my driveway when this happened and my driveway is a slight slope so trying to figure out what was happening I rolled into the street. Luckily no one was traveling on the street at the time but this could have been far more disastrous then it was.”

NHTSA complaint #10297983, filed 2010-01, 69,000 miles
