“First time (oct 2018): while driving on freeway car kept accelerating without my foot on accelerator. I had to brake to slow within acceptable speed. Within 10 minutes the problem stopped occurring. I took it to mechanic & he could not find any problem or replicat the problem. 2nd time (oct 12, 2018, 4 days after being st mechanic) & 400 miles away from home-- I was driving on surface street in the city, acceleration happened again without any use of accelerator. I had to brake & get to side of street, put in park & turn off engine. Waited 10 minutes & tried again. Problem remedied. …”

“My 2005 Ford Taurus has been a headache since day one. Today on my way to work the car suddenly accelerated and applying the brakes was a challenge as I almost couldn't stop when pulling over for safety. Prior to this, over $2000 for a new engine, another $900 for a new transmission, another $250 for a power steering pump, and daily issues like the door not latching and me trying to hold driver's door shut while driving at the same time, and then having to tie a rope across the front seat to the passenger door. …”

“I own a 2005 Ford Taurus se wagon with 33k miles. While driving the interstate at 70mph, I began to ease over into the right lane and had to make a sudden move back into the left lane which sent my front end and steering wheel into a major oscillation which I have never experience in a car before. I don't see any recalls from Ford on this issue but wondering if you may have received any similar accounts by other owners. No telling what would have happened had this occurred during winter driving or wet roads. …”

“I own a 2005 Ford Taurus sel. It's been a piece of junk since the day I bought it.when I first bought it,it was burning off front tires every 2000 miles,it was aligned by the dealer twice, ended up having to take it to a friends tire shop,we [I'm a motorcycle builer/welder..] ended up cutting the welds on the shock mount and moved it.the gas mileage is aweful, but now, after 96,000 miles, the transmission started acting up.it was changed every 30,000 miles, always looked like mud.two weeks after it started slipping,my wife was coming home late from work on a secluded, dark, really busy highway, out…”
