“Transmission went out on my 2005 Ford Taurus sel. There is less than 65,000 miles on this car. The manufacturer should issue a recall on the transmission of this model year. Transmission issues are the number one complaint on all the websites I visited. I now have to pay $3,000+ to fix the transmission on a car worth $7,500 - this is not a good quality vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #10424365, filed 2011-09, 65,000 miles

“When it is cold (30 or below degrees) the engines dies right after you start it. I was going 60 MPH on the interstate when the engine just died. I have been trying to get this problem fixed since dec. 2009, my machanic cannot see to fix the problem. He keeps replacing parts, but, appartently not the right one.”

NHTSA complaint #10307474, filed 2010-02, 195,000 miles

“I was pulling into a gas station and starting to slow down, but the car kept accelerating. I applied the brakes and put the car in park, but the engine was racing. I pushed down on the gas pedal very hard several times before the car stopped the excessive acceleration. Another time I was driving on the freeway at about 60 MPH and the car started to accelerate, but I also pushed down very hard several times before the acceleration stopped.”

NHTSA complaint #10453210, filed 2012-03, 100,000 miles

“I just recently purchased a 2005 Ford Taurus and it was running fine for like 2 days. Then the cruise stopped working a few days later the accelerator began to stick. I was going about 30 and suddenly the car began to take off on its own and I nearly hit the car in front of me. I had to steer off the road and pressing the brakes was very hard. This seems to be a trend for the car and is extremely dangerous!! Someone should not have to die for this to be recalled!!”

NHTSA complaint #10425538, filed 2011-09, 81,600 miles

“My 2005 Taurus kept over heating and couldn't find a leak any where. I kept filling it with water and always kept an eye on it. When the head gasket finally failed my extended warranty refused to pay for the work that needed to be done. Cna is the warranty company. They say it is my fault because I used the wrong fluids (which was water) in the radiator and I used stop leak (which I did not and never would use).”
