“My crank shaft pulley bolt broke off damaging my whole engine. Honda estimates it will be approx. 5900.00 to fix. This is ridiculous since my car is practically new (1999) and I get all my servicing at the dealership!”
NHTSA complaint #10068736, filed 2004-01, 64,000 miles“I have had a transmission failure in my Honda Accord. When I took it to a mechanic in parkville, missouri, he checked the transmission fluid and found it black. He flushed the transmission, put new fluid in, and changed a filter behind the glove compartment. He told me that Honda from 98 to 2002 had transmission problems. He told me to drive the car for a few days and see if that didn't fix it. I could tell as I drove home that it was not fixed. The mechanic said that a new transmission would cost 1,600 to 1,800 dollars. …”
NHTSA complaint #10136285, filed 2005-09, 102,331 miles“While driving down the freeway going about 40mph the accelorator stuck and continued to accel at uncontrolable speeds. The brake would not stop the car and I had to put it in neutral and slam on the gas pedal to release it. I have since taken the car to mel rapton Honda and spoke to the service manager who claims that he has never heard of this happening. It has not done it since. I had a mechanic check the accelerator cables as well as the cruise control cables and there were no apparent problems.”
NHTSA complaint #10069920, filed 2004-01“Recall on ignition switch/steering column case steering column had groove marks from steering wheel ignition switched replaced / steering column case replaced since then the horn doesn't blow all the time when blown. I also reported this to the state police here in baton rouge, la.”
