“I started driving down a freeway side-road and as I approached a stop sign the brakes slowly went down to the floor. Using the regular brakes and the emergency brake I stopped without incident. I pulled over and found that the brake line had a large leak approximately in the middle and underneath the car. As I worked on replacing all of the brake lines one of the fuel lines also collapsed so I replaced all of the fuel and brake lines to be certain of their reliability.”

NHTSA complaint #10702510, filed 2015-03, 65,000 miles

“My 1999 Honda Accord ex sedan with approximately 84,000 miles on odometer has warped front rotors. I have always taken good care of my vehicles, however, I almost always bought toyota's in the past (and kept most to the 100,000-mile mark). This is my first Honda. I've reviewed all of the complaints filed with regard to this vehicle, and concur with others that there is no logical reason for warped rotors at this point. …”

NHTSA complaint #10020962, filed 2003-06, 84,207 miles

“I am the original owner of a 1999 Honda Accord (purchased new) with 57,400 miles. While traveling down hill in wet but not rainy conditions, my brakes failed. The pedal went all the way to the floor & I lost all braking power. I was not able to pump the brakes back up and there were no brake indicator or warning lights that came on. It was not an ABS activated system because the pedal simply fell to the floor. After the car sat for approx. 30 minutes, full braking power returned. There was also a burning smell, with a foul odor. …”

NHTSA complaint #10056513, filed 2004-02, 57,497 miles

“The subframe, brake lines, fuel lines, and suspension, on the front passenger side, have all rusted out to the point of failure due to a poorly designed A/C drain hose. The dealer should have noticed this was a problem during any of the later service visits. Honda should take action on this dangerous situation.”

NHTSA complaint #10632604, filed 2014-09, 70,000 miles

“1999 Honda Accord lx 4-door sedan vehicle has an unwarranted acceleration when driver tried to slow it down at an intersection. Specifically, the driver hit the brakes the vehicle accelerated instead of slowing down, the vehicle went off the road and hit a large tree. Police reported though the vehicle was in park, the brakes were still depressed and brake lights were still on before being towed away from the accident scene.”
