2008: “My 2008 Honda cbr1000 burns an excessive amount of engine oil. Over the course of my ownership I have noticed that my bike burns on average 1 qt of fully synthetic motor oil in about 1000 miles of use. This is an excessive amount of oil and I am constantly refilling oil and worrying about the extra strain on the engine due to this high amount of oil consumption.”
NHTSA complaint #10503359, filed 2013-03, 11,000 miles2004: “I have a 2004 Honda cbr 1000rr. Well my speedometer is way off. It says I'm doing 38 when I'm doing 60. I've had everything checked out by 2 dealers. They says it's in the speedometer. And they said there was a recall for this year bike. I'd like to know what I can do to get this fixed. It worked fine but about 2 weeks ago is started doing this. So I don't know what to do.”
NHTSA complaint #10253136, filed 2008-12, 10,817 miles2009: “Hello, I own a 2009 cbr 1000rr ABS. I've put over 40,000 miles on the bike since I bought it new in april 2011. The bike performed well until december 2013. I experienced my first crash on that bike. I was coming to a traffic light, it turned yellow, I applied the front brakes to stop at the light. As soon as I pulled the lever in the front tire locked and flipped the bike forward. I stood up in shock, righted the motorcycle and looked down to see the ABS light steadily flashing indicating an ABS failure. …”
