“Takata recall: I have had an airbag light on several times. I was told by the dealership it is an inflator code and I will have to pay for a $1,200 repair. On two occasions the seatbelt was replaced. Somedays my light is on, others it is not. There is a recall and there is a technical bulletin but my car is not impacted that is untrue. It absolutely is. The vehicle is presenting the same codes as those in these bulletins and recalls and it should be repaired at Honda's expense, not mine. …”

NHTSA complaint #11120120, filed 2018-08, 185,000 miles

“The air bags in my vehicle did not deploy in a front and back end collision that I was involved in. It caused me to fly forward and injure myself, hitting the steering wheel in my chest and abdomen. My car was at halt at a traffic red light and a ram 1500 van whose brakes failed to apply bumped into my car from behind, which caused my car to also collide with the car in front. This caused severe damage to my car, both in front and back and the air bag signs went on and the seat belt retracted but the air bags did not get deployed inspite of such severe impact.”

NHTSA complaint #10711865, filed 2015-04, 146,112 miles

“My 3 year old son unbuckled the seat belt while in car seat while car was parked. He managed to get the seat belt twisted around his waist and chest. He started screaming, and when I tried to get slack in seat belt, there was none. It kept restricting him and started to effect his breathing, which became labored and shallow. As much as I tried I could get no slack. I went to look for a knife and had to cut the seat belt to free him. I took it into stephen wade Honda. …”

NHTSA complaint #10173555, filed 2006-11, 8,990 miles

“The srs light will come on, stay on for days, and then randomly go off only to come back on randomly and stay for days. The dealership told me there is a faulty wire which grounds out the srs system which cuts all power to seatbelt tensioners and airbags.”

NHTSA complaint #10513269, filed 2013-05, 80,000 miles

“Srs light stays on and airbags won't deploy in event of accident. No recall issued to fix must pay out of pocket for faulty design, safety issue. Known issue among Honda Civic 2006 owners.”
