“Weight sensor 83-22 needs to be replaced after I had the takata airbag issue resolved, immediately after leaving Honda, the airbag light came on!! Upon my immediate return, I was told it should be covered since it is internal in the seat, and should be covered just like airbag/seatbelts. I can not have anyone sit in that seat until it is repaired and now I have been told that I will have to pay for it....approximately $600”

NHTSA complaint #10903280, filed 2016-09, 107,700 miles

“I began to have back and neck pain after buying a Honda Civic 2007. I finally realized this pain is due to the forward tilt of the headrest which pushes my head forward and down whenever I am seated in the car. I have developed serious neck problems requiring treatment, physical therapy, and possible surgery in the future. This headrest design causes problems for passengers too. These headrests cannot be adjusted to a comfortable position. …”

NHTSA complaint #10937464, filed 2016-12

“The design of the head restraints forces the head and neck into an abnormal, uncomfortable position. This has caused pain and injury to my neck as a result of driving in this position. I want Honda to provide replacement head restraints with an alternate design which will alleviate the bodily stress caused by this awkward position. This is an ongoing problem since I purchased the car in 2007. Hundreds of others have complained about this dangerous safety issue.”

NHTSA complaint #11048272, filed 2017-11

“Brand new 2007 with tilted head restraints which caused head, neck, back pain. Called dealership, and they stated nothing they could do. I called Honda corporation and awaiting call back. They did said had not had any problems, and in no way am I to modify head rest for any reason... Funny ,there were multi websites regarding Civic head rest problems. What am I to do?? A constant headache.”

NHTSA complaint #10195562, filed 2007-07

“The contact owns a 2007 Honda Civic ex. The contact stated that the head rest caused him to lean his head forward and place his neck in a bent position. This affects people who are 5'1 to 5'5. The dealer advised him to remove, bend, turn the headrest around, or purchase a headrest for his year, make and model vehicle. The current and failure mileage were 76. The engine size is unknown.”
