“I was driving 45 MPH on the freeway, when my gas pedal went down on its own as if I wanted to speed up. A few minutes later it did the same thing, but this time the gas pedal stuck. I put my 4-way flashers on, tried braking and put my right foot under the pedal to try an loosen it . It finally unlocked and I was able to drive normally. It was not my floor mats in the way either, because I checked that. After researching over the weekend it looks like there have been 295 Honda complaints for the same problem. …”
NHTSA complaint #11078717, filed 2018-03, 33,800 miles“On july 31, 2015, while exiting I-95 northbound crossing from the florida to georgia state line from high density high speed vacation traffic, my 2009 Honda CR-V serpentine (drive) belt snapped. I immediately lost power steering and other functions associated with the drive serpentine belt. I was traveling at least 45 MPH as I had just exited the highway; my knuckles were white I was grabbing the steering wheel so hard trying to assess, at high speed and with vehicles in front and behind me going the same speeds, how to bring the vehicle to a safe stop. …”
NHTSA complaint #10749696, filed 2015-08, 73,000 miles“Exiting the small to moderate sized parking lot I was stopped at the red light. This is a t intersection where one must turn right or left. After the light turned green I slowly accelerated to turn left when the car accelerated immediately to about 50 MPH while I was entering the intersection, I managed to turn left. Despite vigorously braking, the car continued at what seemed like an incredible speed, it felt like an accelerating race car. I hit a truck and another car sideswiping them as I tried to swerve out of the way of traffic and parked cars. …”
NHTSA complaint #10592088, filed 2014-05, 24,000 miles“Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 Honda CR-V. While pulling into a parking spot with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle independently accelerated without warning. The vehicle went over a curb and crashed into a wall. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. There were injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v061000 (air bags); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. …”
NHTSA complaint #10853896, filed 2016-04, 73,950 miles“My mother was driving on the interstate when the vsa light (triangle with exclamation point in the middle) came on. She then started to hear a grinding noise from the tires. The light and the noise caused her to reduce her speed to about 55. She drove about 5 miles to the nearest pull-off ramp. She was able to slow down, but as she pulled into a parking spot, she depressed the brake pedal further to stop the car and the brake pedal would not go down and the vehicle would not stop. …”
