“My air bag light turned on a few months ago. At first, it was when I was only turning my steering wheel or when I was in park. Now, it's always on. I have seen this issue so often and for it to be such a common issue and not recalled is very disappointing. This is a huge safety issue and can be fatal if I were to be in an accident because my air bag wouldn't deploy properly.”

NHTSA complaint #11400424, filed 2021-03, 70,000 miles

“Airbag warning light came on for no reason while I was driving and remains on. I called dealership and was told I would have to pay $169.00 just to diagnose the problem. Reading the other complaints on this website it appears gt has the same airbags as other elantras but is not on recall for this part? Why not? Isn't this a safety issue?”

NHTSA complaint #11376037, filed 2020-11, 78,000 miles

“Air bag light came on and buttons on steering wheel no longer work. Many other Elantra owners have made complaints about this but nothing has been done. They want me to pay to fix a safety issue with the air bags and it happened before I hit 60000 but couldn't get in until later so they used that to not fix it on there on dime.”

NHTSA complaint #11341010, filed 2020-07, 59,989 miles

“2 weeks after I purchased this car, the airbag light on the instrument panel came on. Dealer refused to do anything about it. Also noticed 2 weeks after I purchased, that the sunroof assembly leaks, and water pools around the spare tire. Worried about water damage caused to the spare tire, and the possibility of mold growing.”

NHTSA complaint #11279150, filed 2019-11, 67,000 miles

“My airbag light came on then went off but now back on. I called the dealer (dennis Hyundai) today (4/24/19)to ask about the recall on the airbag I would on the new, iesha the lady I talked to said there is not a recall on my car? Why not if the light is on the airbags will not destroy. What am I suppose to do?”
