“My vehicle had been parked in my driveway and when I went to start the car it wouldn't start, but it began making this knocking noise. I had no idea what caused this, but it was extremely embarrassing and the only thing I could think of was to disconnect the battery. And that's when I heard the noise coming from the engine.”
NHTSA complaint #11415610, filed 2021-05, 34,900 miles“Suddenly my car developed a new issue of sudden acceleration while stopped/idle. While my foot is on gas, the car will suddenly jerk forward/RPM increase. However, so far while my foot is on the brake, I haven't moved as far as I can tell but fearful it might happen while driving or it will drive forward even with foot on brake.”
NHTSA complaint #11279092, filed 2019-11, 97,000 miles“After 50k miles the car started to idle rough. Changed spark plugs, air filter, etc. Still ran rough. Car now stalls out when stopped in traffic, and lately will not accelerate up to speed from a stopped position too well. Started to hear a 'clicking' noise that is synced when I press the gas. The vehicle is now stalling when I put it in reverse as well.”
NHTSA complaint #10946559, filed 2017-01, 51,000 miles“My 2013 Elantra has in the past experienced labored engine issues, and shutting down when applying the brakes, this is a serious issue. At my appointment this month, I will advise the dealership of the issue, as it happened again this week. I still am under warranty for the drive train 100,000k miles, I am hoping this appointment, the dealership will locate the issue and fix the problem.”
NHTSA complaint #11195559, filed 2019-04, 70,000 miles“My car started making a ticking noise in engine one day to the next took the car to dealer to dealership they told me it needs a new engine . After looking the problem up there has been many complaints of this problem happening to everyone with a 2011 to 2013 Hyundai Elantra with a 4cyl engine”
