“Air bag light came on and buttons on steering wheel no longer work. Many other Elantra owners have made complaints about this but nothing has been done. They want me to pay to fix a safety issue with the air bags and it happened before I hit 60000 but couldn't get in until later so they used that to not fix it on there on dime.”
NHTSA complaint #11341010, filed 2020-07, 59,989 miles“Car was parked and locked with all systems off. Later I noticed brake lights on. Called Hyundai and informed them inquiring if there was a recall about this problem. They told me to take to dealer and have them perform diagnostic to determine cause. They said it was brake light switch.dealer changed switch(2),relay. Problem still exist.”
NHTSA complaint #11269856, filed 2019-10, 81,800 miles“My brake lights do not work, I've had them replaced 3 times. My rpms do not work when I push the gas, the vehicle won't go more than 20 MPH, when changing my gears, it doesn't work, and when I am at a stop light or just sitting in a parking lot with the vehicle running it turns off on it's own. When I try to start the vehicle it won't turn most the time.”
NHTSA complaint #11161437, filed 2018-12, 130,000 miles“Takata recalls. My radio bluetooth doesn't work nor does the usb. I'm constantly having to change rear lightbulbs. When my car reaches a certain speed it starts to shake. My tire sensor put a hole in my tire. My seat belts will not connect. I'm just had to change the alternator. And the engine makes a ticking sound.”
NHTSA complaint #11208562, filed 2019-05, 117,000 miles“My son was driving home from work one morning and he said he began to see a light glow from inside the accessories compartment above the shifter. He stated a couple of seconds later it melted away and flames were coming from the hole. I have not taken it to the dealer yet due to them telling me they are busy and it would be about a week before they could get it in.”
