Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Recently my son was complaining about difficulty buckling his seat belt. Upon inspection, I noticed that his seat belt was frayed in several places. It is now frayed half way through the width. I thought maybe he was being to rough with the seatbelt, until I noticed my older sons seatbelt was doing the same thing. To avoid using the seatbelts further, I have had to move my youngest son to the middle and my oldest to the front passenger. Consumer stated she was not sure if there was damage to the wiring.”

NHTSA complaint #11300979, filed 2020-01, 38,590 miles

“Starting at 25k miles, the vehicle started to burn through oil even before the next oil change. The manual states to go off the oil system light, dealers say different. Oil had 14% left, but the car kept shutting off while driving on the highway. Went to dealer, car burned through all the oil. They refused to check for engine damage and force me to pay for a full oil change. Stated by the dealer, its a known issue with Jeep and there is no fix for it. Now at 33k, check engine light came on, cylinder 4 misfire. Coil pack needs replaced. …”

NHTSA complaint #11267328, filed 2019-10, 10,000 miles

“I fastened seatbelt. It retracted, but heard a rolling noise, which sounded like a can or bottle rolling in the floor behind me. Paid no attention to it and forgot about it. Next time I drove the Jeep, it happened again, so I got home and checked. There was nothing there to make that noise. Another short drive and I realized the seat belt wouldn't tighten, even though I attempted to tighten it some. Reading online, I found a suggestion to pull it out, release it slowly and listen for the racheting sound. It does not make the sound so I checked passenger side to see if it was different. …”
