“I bought a new 2007 Jeep Commander, and during the first rain that we got the front passenger cabin area was flooded. I took it to the dealer ship and they were unable to correct the problem. The service advisor stated that they have had several complaints with other Jeep commanders with the same problem, and that they have contacted the manufacture to obtain advice from them with negative results. …”

NHTSA complaint #10219989, filed 2008-03, 2,000 miles

“I purchased in november 2012 and ever since with each rain storm my interior floods and it is starting to affect electronics. I have service 4wd system after n23 recall and vehicle won't shift into 4 lo. I have service park assist and TPMS warning and had all four sensors replaced with warning recurring. I recently started losing all four door speakers intermittently and when they do work they sound horrible. Display on radio is starting to go black and dim. I have lights on dash display flash on and off when they want. …”

NHTSA complaint #10609989, filed 2014-07, 38,000 miles

“Recently had to have sunroof drains cleaned for second time in the last 14 months at a cost of $500 each time. Heberts town and country in shreveport, la tells me that drains are clogged and this is causing water to leak into the cabin of the vehicle. They also mentioned that they can't warranty any of the work b/c an actual part hasn't broken. Very convenient for them. We parked the vehicle in a garage in the evenings and made sure we didn't park under any trees at other times that may clog drains, but they got clogged. …”

NHTSA complaint #10451678, filed 2012-03, 50,000 miles

“I have owned my 2007 Jeep Commander for about ten months now. The problem I have is when my knee bumps the bottom of the ignition key (turning it to the left, & shutting the vehicle off) which is unusually located at the bottom portion of the console (I guess this vehicle wasn't meant for tall people). When this happens the vehicle immediately shuts off, causing the power steering to shut off as well. This has happened four times now. The last time it happened was thursday, june 12, 2008 around 11:15 am. I was driving my 1 year old son to the babysitters house. …”

NHTSA complaint #10231011, filed 2008-06, 11,935 miles

“Drain tubes leak into vehicle thru upper hand grab and under dash due to routing of tubes... They clog very easy and vehicle owners cannot see them or have knowledge of them until a heavy rain leaves the car flooded. Most likely eroding wires under dash and causing mold in carpet.”
