2008 Jeep Liberty Vehicle speed control Problems

“I'm speeding up as I'm passing a truck on 395, signaling with left blinker. Start speed as beginning to pass is approx. 55 MPH. I signal right as I pull back in the south bound lane, take my foot off the gas pedal as I notice I'm driving 80 MPH. The gas pedal is stuck and the car is going 80 MPH on its own. I step on the brake carefully but its rock hard and doesn't move at all. At this point the car is stuck at 80 MPH. I try to brake again but the same - brake pedal is stuck, doesn't move at all and is rock hard. …”

“I was on my way back to work during my lunch hour driving on alexander st. In corpus christi texas. That street has several dips. As I drove over one of the dips the Jeep suddenly accelerated in such a speed that I was unable to stop it and it hit a parked car. My car was approximately 10 feet from the parked car which made it almost impossible for me to avoid hitting the car. I firmly believe the accident was a result of sudden unintended acceleration there is no other way to explain this unfortunate accident. …”

“I purchased my Jeep from a private owner back in 10/2013. I thought I wrote a complaint out but I can not find it here. I have a 2008 Jeep Liberty with a roll back top. While driving with my grandson the top blew back and broke the clip broke when it flew back.. To fix, it will cost 2,000.00 to 2,500 dollars . It was out of warranty and chrysler would not help me in any way I called chrysler direct and a local dealer. I did not think it was the right thing to do being that I do not believe a roof she be able to blow off your vehicle. …”

“Sept. 8, 2012 I took my Jeep to the dealership I purchased it from, and have had all maintenance work completed by, for routine factory maintenance and an oil change. I told them I was leaving for an extended road trip and requested they look everything over to see if there might be any safety issues. On sept. 17, 2012 while traveling on the interstate, I accelerated and the accelerator pedal stuck. I do not have cruise control and it was not related to the floor mats. This happened several times while on the road trip. I returned home sept. …”

“Vehicle accelerated and would not stop. I did hard braking and it just pushed it anyway. Pulled off the road and the wheels dug trenches in the dirt. Got it stopped, called a wrecker and had it towed to the Jeep dealer where we purchased the vehicle, told them what happened and that the throttle light came on the dashboard and they said they could find nothing wrong and that they had never heard of this happening to anyone else. They reset the computer and sent me home. I am concerned it could happen again. Is there any evidence of this happening to others ?”
