“My car just stopped on the highway because my electronic throttle control froze up. The freeze up was do to having the car in cruise control for a long period of time in extreme cold weather.”
NHTSA complaint #10218741, filed 2008-02, 6,746 miles“With key in on position it tries and will crank by itself. Also not getting power to some of the fuse box and the part time light stays on when in 2wd. When asked Jeep dealer I was told they never hear of this and when researching the problem there were tons of people with the same problem and no result of what to do. All issues they just want to charge thousands of dollars to fix.”
NHTSA complaint #10904835, filed 2016-09, 175,000 miles“My Jeep Liberty is not listed for having the follow problems according to the VIN number. 1-electrical system 2-brakes - hydraulics-ABS 3-traction control the Jeep brake pedal will pulsate then drop to the floor. Then the ABS and traction control light will come on.”
NHTSA complaint #11128480, filed 2018-09, 174,500 miles“We added a rubber mat on the drivers side floor to keep the Jeep mat cleaner. When the gas pedal was pushed down to go up a hill, it stuck down. This cause the Jeep to gain speed when back on the level. Brake pressure was applied keeping the Jeep under control. A warning needs to go out that the addition of a mat or carpet above the current Jeep mat will cause the gas pedal to stick in the down position which could cause a crash or death.”
NHTSA complaint #10521024, filed 2013-06, 67,000 miles“Electronic throttle control - loose ability to accelerate, rough idle and slow power (jerky starts when occurs during casual driving). This has occurred while on the freeway and causal driving on the city streets. When this occurs on the freeway, RPM's go above 3000 when only going 60...car sputters and feels like it could just stop, engine runs high and if you accelerate, it is slow to catch and starts jerking. This has occurred several times even after being seen by the dealer 6 times and supposedly fixed . …”
