“The filler neck in failing on my Jeep Liberty 2007 and it is a safety issue! When I fill up my tank with gas, the automatic shut off occurs and when I remove the nozzle, gas spits back at me. At first it would happen after the tank was full, now it is happening after only filling up 2 gal (when on empty!).”
NHTSA complaint #10810922, filed 2015-12, 79,000 miles“This is a fuel overflow issue. When I am fueling the Jeep as the tank gets full and the gas pump clicks off, fuel spills out of filler tube onto side of vehicle and the ground. This seems like a safety problem with raw gas all over the ground. When the Jeep was new this didn't happen, now it happens every time I fill the tank up.”
NHTSA complaint #10436421, filed 2011-11, 60,000 miles“Jeep sent a voluntary recall letter in april of 2013 about the fuel tank possibly erupting during a rear end crash. I have contacted the dealer several times and they still have no parts for this recall (15 months later). The very last sentence says, .....we are extremely concerned about your safety. Apparently, Jeep (chrysler) is not real concerned. How many people need to die before someone makes them do the right thing?”
NHTSA complaint #10618432, filed 2014-08, 35,000 miles“When filling my gas tank to full, the fuels flows out of the filler tube before the pump shuts off, chrysler acknowledged this by sending out a extended warranty on the effected parts for some owners of 07 and 08 models, but refuses to issues the same to my 07 Jeep Liberty. What gives?”
NHTSA complaint #10509620, filed 2013-04, 64,000 miles“I purchased vehicle aug 2008 with 7500 miles on it. From that time to current date, fuel spills out when filling the gas tank full. Shortly after purchase, the first of 3 occurrences of the rear windows falling happened. The dealership repaired the first one, the second one I had to pay $100 deductible to have my extended warranty cover the cost to the same dealership. Now the first one is broke again, costing me another $100 deductible. …”
