“Just as all the other 2007 Jeep wranglers my clockspring has gone bad and my airbags and horn malfunction constantly. I filed a reports years ago but that seems to have been removed. I see that the 2008 Jeep wranglers had this recalled, but 2007 jeeps were not good enough. Guess our lives and the lives of our families don't mean squat.”
NHTSA complaint #10865780, filed 2016-05, 115,000 miles“2007 wrangler rubicon unlimited with faulty clock spring. Airbag light came on along with an audible dinging alarm at 71,918 miles. Took vehicle to dealership and was told the clock spring needed replaced and wasn't covered under the 100,000 mile warranty I purchased. Have not had this replaced at this time.”
NHTSA complaint #10393660, filed 2011-03, 71,918 miles“2007 Jeep wrangler unlimited. Clockspring and airbag module need replaced at 56k miles. Airbag light and chime stay on while driving. Numerous cases have been documented with same failure. Solution is to have $700 replacement done or circumvent airbag system...which is not safe to do.”
NHTSA complaint #10341052, filed 2010-07, 55,025 miles“Wrangler has a failed clockspring and always gets airbag light on after driving for a short period of time. Dealer wants to charge an exorbitant amount to fix this. There are many failures reported and Jeep should be liable to fix this problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10414837, filed 2011-07, 77,000 miles“On the 2007 Jeep wrangler (lhd) dashboard, the airbag warning light flashes on every other minute with a chime, an indication that there is something malfunctioning or interfering with the vehicle's airbags. This has been a recurring issue and concern for many 2007 Jeep wrangler owners, including myself, and has been shown time and time again to be caused by a faulty clockspring within the vehicle's steering wheel. This faulty clockspring is the culprit for potential airbag failure in the 2007 Jeep wrangler (lhd) during an accident or premature deployment when simply driving around. …”
