“The 2007 Jeep wrangler 4 door has seemed to have several complaints regarding violent shaking. This has happened to me several times where the vehicle shakes so violently it feels like you are having a tire blown out. It almost throws you off the road. I was almost in an accident on the highway. I am nervous and do not think this vehicle is safe.”
NHTSA complaint #10547593, filed 2013-10, 65,585 miles“From a stop I engaged first gear and started accelerating. There was a loud bang and the transmission disengaged from first gear. This has happened multiple times in the one month I have owned the vehicle.”
NHTSA complaint #10458221, filed 2012-05, 56,000 miles“Vehicle has stalled while driving 45mph on exit ramp and 65mph on highway. Vehicle restarted right away as it's a manual transmission. All dash warning lights lit up like when first turning vehicle on. Didn't notice loss of power steering as I was going straight both times. Didn't file complaint before because I didn't know I could. Was just waiting for Jeep to come up with the solution and then take it in for it.”
NHTSA complaint #10192432, filed 2007-06, 5,000 miles“At a complete stop when you stick your Jeep in first gear for a manual transmission and go to accelerate, the Jeep will make a loud pop/bang sound as the stick pops out of first gear in a violent fashion. I have come close to an accident twice where I was attempting to cross multiple lanes of traffic. It only happens in first gear and it only happens once in a while. Jeep won't fix it because they can't replicate it. My Jeep is now out of warranty and they now acknowledge the problem, but want me to pay to have it fixed. …”
NHTSA complaint #10430256, filed 2011-10, 1,200 miles“I was driving with friends when I noticed that the vehicle was not functioning properly. Overheating, AC stopped working, and an odd speed fluctuation. I informed the people I was with that I was going to drive to the main road. Before I got there, about 50 feet, the whole vehicle was engulfed in flames. The flames went over the top of the Jeep. Luckily the flames died down briefly enough for me to jump out . I lost everything in the Jeep and the Jeep itself. Upon contacting Jeep, they said it wasn't their fault rather it was my fault. Clearly something malfunctioned and I almost lost my life.”
