“As soon as I turn the car over, my dash lights, headlights come on. The headlight stalk and the windshield wiper stalk are inoperable. It's a safety hazard to drive my car. And after researching through multiple forums and sites online, it looks like this is a fairly common problem, with a non-standard resolution. Not looking forward to the hours I'm going to have to spend getting this addressed. I was driving 8/14 when I noticed the issues.”
NHTSA complaint #10895873, filed 2016-08, 135,000 miles“Driving on the highway, my Jeep dash lit up and it shutdown. I had to coast out of harms way and have it towed home as it would not re-start. Been reading about tipm failures in my model year. Seems to be related.”
NHTSA complaint #10945808, filed 2017-01, 140,039 miles“I see similar complaints listed here. The whole ip just blanks out at random times. I have just shy of 50k miles and this has happened at least 4 times. The engine keeps running and the car is functional but the speedo, tach, odometer and all gauges go blank, but all the warning lights come on. Then everything resets and comes back to normal.”
NHTSA complaint #10270062, filed 2009-05, 2,000 miles“I was driving up a hill and my car stalled. All the lights on the warning lights came on and the RPM went to zero. About a second or two later, the car started back up on its own and drove fine. Took it to the dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. This has happened to several Jeep jk's. My car is also a automatic.”
NHTSA complaint #10186981, filed 2007-04, 5,100 miles“My 2007 Jeep jku sahara will completely shut down and stall at any given time while I am driving at any speed. The wipers and horn will go off even when in the off position, followed by the engine stalling. My wheels will lock up and I cannot give the vehicle gas. I can only brake and slightly turn off to the side of the road. This is extremely dangerous because there is no telling when it will happen. Recall for tipm has already been reprogrammed and apparently there are no power modules available. …”
