“Hello, I'm requesting that a factory recall be placed on my 2008 Jeep wrangler. The issue is that the shifter cable falls off from the transmission lever because at the end of the cable there is a cheap 1 cent plastic insert that dries up and disintegrates, thus the shifter cable to fall-off. Thanks be to god, that nothing major happened to us, but potentially it could be fatal in other cases. …”

NHTSA complaint #10606007, filed 2014-06, 80,000 miles

“Cruise control stopped working. I got a new clock spring from a local 4x4 shop that ordered it through the local dealer. I had the 4x4 shop install the clock spring for me because my local Jeep dealer is not a trustworthy dealer in my opinion. Total for the repair was nearly 500 dollars.”

NHTSA complaint #10392562, filed 2011-03, 30,000 miles

“Issues started with vehicle not able to start and inability to shift out of park. Battery would test good. After disconnecting battery, vehicle would start as usually. Issue began to escalate with oil light and esp light randomly lighting up on the dash. Finally, electronic throttle control and esp light would come on while driving and accelerator was unresponsive while driving on highway. I have replaced the throttle body and the entire wiring harness with no resolution. I am now replacing the computer in hopes that it will resolve the issues. …”

NHTSA complaint #11220321, filed 2019-06, 129,400 miles

“My vehicle has had the death wobble multiple times. My vehicle has been repaired twice, once in october of 2013 and once in march of 2014. It is happening again. I will need to get it fixed for the third time. It makes the Jeep uncontrollable. I have to slow down to almost a complete stop. When it happened continuously in march of 2014 I had to have it towed 60 miles from my home. I have come close to two accidents on major roadways. There is less than 23k miles on my Jeep.”

NHTSA complaint #10608481, filed 2014-07, 20,800 miles

“My Jeep has the Jeep death wobble , which is widely discussed on the internet. By googling that term, you can see that it's a very violent shaking of the front end of the vehicle, causing the car to ultimately shake out of control if the vehicle cannot be slowed down very quickly. Unfortunately, it's cause is unclear, though there is a list of a dozen or so fixes that sometimes fix the problem for 20,000 miles or so at a time. I had the death wobble at about 15k miles, 35k miles and now again at 65k miles. …”
