“Driving Wrangler at 50 MPH when the front end began to shake violently. This was very traumatic, I had to pull off the road. When I searched the internet, I found that this has been a recurring problem among Jeep owners. Dealership didn't seem to know about problem. Dealer stated that the steering damper and stabilizer bar went bad. Of course these items were not covered by warranty. Jeep needs to acknowledge problem and fix it. Someone is going to die from this. Please google death wobble happened to my wife and children. Will not take kids in this vehicle.”
NHTSA complaint #10229623, filed 2008-06, 44,000 miles“While test driving, air conditioner did not work, I was assured that it would be fixed by time of pick up (july 11). The air worked when I picked up the vehicle, however, the check engine light was on. Air conditioning gave out 2 weeks later, took in for repair and they said the hose was cracked. When I picked it up after the air conditioner repairs, I didn't even leave the parking lot and the check engine light went on again. I have owned the car for 28 days and it has been in the shop for 10 days. Dealer does not want to make restitution.”
NHTSA complaint #10131819, filed 2005-08, 90 miles“Death wobble violent shaking of steering wheel with after market parts I have spent thousands of dollars trying to fix the problem and it still death wobbles Jeep need to reimburse people for this if I would have been told this by a disclosure of some sort when I went to purchase the Jeep I would have not purchased it.”
NHTSA complaint #10448421, filed 2012-02“Consumer complaint regarding tire pressure in the 30 inch tires. The vehicle came factory equipped with 30 inch tires, which was an upgrade option from the standard 15 inch tire. However upon having the vehicle serviced the consumer was informed that the tire pressure on the specifications label - 29 PSI - was incorrect. The correct tire pressure for the 30 inch tires is 40 PSI. The consumer contacted the manufacturer for clarification and was told that the correct tire inflation was actually 38 PSI. …”
