“The engine stalled while in motion and driving over 45 MPH. This is the 2nd time this has occurred. Both times I was travelling over 45 MPH on a large and busy city street and had difficulty steering my car to safety. There are no codes to explain what might be the cause. Replaced the transmission control unit the first time. After removing the key, putting the car in park and waiting for 5-10 minutes, in both occurrences I was able to restart the vehicle and drive to the dealership, which was less than 5 miles from my location.”
NHTSA complaint #11209890, filed 2019-05, 132,000 miles“From the time it was only 1 year old, the climate control system began repeatedly to fail. Some of the repairs done under warranty, but we have now spent over $3,400.00 on new A/C compressors (twice), the evaporator (also twice) and various and sundry leak detections and recharges. Failures have occurred on start-up as well as at highway speeds. I have read through this model's defect records and found little if any mention of the climate control. Perhaps part of the reason may be that the A/C system isn't included among the choices in the complaints list. …”
NHTSA complaint #10861494, filed 2016-04, 30,000 miles“Talara recall. Purchased this vehicle about 4 months ago, and now having problems with it. The engine stalls when driving and check engine light comes on. Vehicle stays in first gear and doesn't go to 2nd. Only the RPM”
NHTSA complaint #11066124, filed 2018-01, 63,000 miles“On wedesday, august 14, 2019 at 11:50 am, the sunroof spontaneously and explosively shattered while driving straight at about 40 MPH on a smooth county road near oldwick, nj. There was no evidence of impact by any projectile and there were no trees or buildings along the road. The outside temperature was about 80 degrees f. The sunroof was tilted open at time and had been in that position since the drive started about 10 minutes earlier. Shards of glass fell into the car interior and onto me (the driver), presenting a danger of personal injury and loss of control of the vehicle.”
NHTSA complaint #11244583, filed 2019-08, 120,000 miles“2007 E350 has strong fuel odor after filling tank. After 3/4 of a tank then fuel smell dissipates. Reference #12-001. Also has been an issue with other mercedes benz e class of different years.”
