“I bought a new 2005 Nissan Murano on 8/8/05. On 10/31/05, I hit debris on I-95. It punctured my fuel tank and gasoline leaked from it. I had to call the fire department to dispose the gasoline. I filed a complain with Nissan corporation. They refused to compensate me for the damage. I had to pay for the replacement of a new fuel tank myself.”

NHTSA complaint #10142530, filed 2005-11, 4,150 miles

“Got service engine soon error code on monitor with temporary loss of power on the road on 2005 Nissan Murano (54000 miles). Looking at internet I found that this is consistent problem for this car just like other Nissan cars of this period (xterra, pathfinder). This is related to fuel sensor error with p0463 code which is unusual for any cars. Estimated cost of repair is about $600 to $ 800. I think Nissan should recall or at least partially compensate owners. I was also asked to replace power steering high pressure hose a few years ago that costs about $ 1000/=. …”

NHTSA complaint #11011553, filed 2017-07, 53,000 miles

“Regarding the NHTSA investigation of a problem with the fuel tank of the Nissan Murano where the fuel tank is susceptible to punctures from road debris during normal driving conditions. I had the exact same problem. On aug 27th, 2005 while driving from florida to toronto on highway I-95 a piece of debris on the road hit a lower corner of the gas tank of my 2005 Nissan Murano, making a crack in that spot. I noticed the gas level dropping fast and pulled over 2 to 3 miles ahead at exit 53, walterboro, sc and verified the gas tank was punctured. …”

NHTSA complaint #10140393, filed 2005-10, 5,600 miles

“Several times while driving on city streets the car would shut down completely, with no warning had to get towed. While in drive-through car shut down but a delay then restarted. Bought new battery, alternator and got a tune-up. Currently the car will not go in backwards.”

NHTSA complaint #11100123, filed 2018-06, 176,000 miles

“Fuel sensor says car is on empty but will never fill up past 1/2 tank. Alternator is out now & bad vibration when driving between 60-70mph so could possibly be u joint considering everything else has been done that would correct a vibration”

NHTSA complaint #11002114, filed 2017-06, 125,000 miles
