“The sun visor on the driver's side flaps down unexpectedly and will not stay up, causing an impairment in visibility and distraction in driving. I contacted Nissan who was of no assistance. I am the only owner of the vehicle and purchased it new. There is only 70,000 miles on it. In speaking to other Nissan owners, they confirmed this problem in Nissan vehicles. Please research this issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10525237, filed 2013-07, 67,000 miles

“The driver's side sun visor falls down and blocks the view of the driver. I used to keep my seat up high because I'm short, and it helped me have a better view of the road. I've lowered my seat because when the visor falls it completely blocks my view. The visor has started falling at least once every time I drive it. It even happens on the freeway, where the road is smooth.”

NHTSA complaint #10418345, filed 2011-08, 50,000 miles

“Driver side sun visor on 2007 Nissan Murano is broken, causing sun visor to flop down while driving car. This is a safety issue. It not only startles me while I am driving, but it also blocks my view of the road. The Nissan dealership in my area charges $404 for the part alone and an additional charge if they also install it. I have reported this to the Nissan motor corporation.”

NHTSA complaint #10363944, filed 2010-11, 22,700 miles

“My drivers side visor has started flopping down into my line of vision. Whether it's forward toward the windshield or up against the roof's interior. It's gotten progressively worse and is a serious concern, especially when my 6'0 husband is driving.”

NHTSA complaint #10596579, filed 2014-06, 68,600 miles

“Driver side sun visor does not stay in place. Nothing LED up to this. One day it went from working perfectly to falling down for no reason. It occurs frequently and reduces my field of vision. I have not yet had it replaced but understand the cost is over $300. After doing an internet search have discovered that this is a well known defect that Nissan has done nothing to remediate.”
