Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“My 2010 Murano suddenly developed a loose driver's interior sun visor that has became progressively worse. It will not stay in the up position and will drop down to the point where it blocks my view out the windshield while driving. From discussions at various Nissan online sites, I have found that many other owners have experienced the same problem for one or both visors. Something inside the visor itself breaks and the visor will no longer stay where one sets it. …”

NHTSA complaint #11163513, filed 2018-12, 50,000 miles

“2010 Nissan Murano. While driving on highway, the glass of the sunroof suddenly and spontaneously shattered into bits. It was not hit by any object, as traffic was clear on the highway and there was no overpass in the area. Nissan said they found no manufacturer's defect, and my insurance would not cover it as glass. I paid for repair out of pocket.”

NHTSA complaint #10363977, filed 2010-11, 2,229 miles

“Driving north on the I-15 freeway, approximately 70 MPH (the posted speed limit), in the fast lane, it was evening, dark outside, around 7 pm. There were no curves in the road at that time. All of the sudden my sun roof glass exploded with a huge bang sound, extremely loud, and immediately there was a lot of wind noise. I had the interior sunroof screen closed, thank goodness. Otherwise I would've been covered in tempered glass. I pulled off the freeway as quickly and safely as I could, into a gas station parking lot to evaluate the situation. …”

NHTSA complaint #11053817, filed 2017-12, 209,000 miles

“2007 Nissan Murano (leased vehicle under warranty that dealer /mossy Nissan refuses to repair under $500 for parts alone) safety hazard sun visors flop down and completely block vision. Happens constantly or whenever vehicle hits a slight bump on the road. Driver's side is most effected however sometimes (at least twice a day) both visors flop down and block visibility completely. Both my wife and I are tall. She's 5'8 and I'm 6'2 . This is a serious if not fatal safety hazard!”

NHTSA complaint #10345070, filed 2010-07, 49,000 miles

“For the second time in 6 months, my sunroof exploded. The first time was in july, 2012, and I will file a separate report for that incident.. Both times the dealer said they were not responsible. Out of the blue, it sounded like a gun shot, it was so loud. The glass was pushed up with the force, with a big circle of glass missing. I was not following another car and there was no stone kicked up as claimed by the dealer. With the cold air outside, the glass was pushed up with the pressure. The first time it happened was in the summer, and with the pressure, the glass was pushed inward. …”
