“Transmission is leaking from front pump seal and from what I have been told all of the caravan, voyager and town & country's do this because they were not designed correctly.”

NHTSA complaint #10199956, filed 2007-08, 177,143 miles

“About a year ago, my van started shifting funny. I was having trouble going from first gear to second gear. If we turned off the ignition, the computer would reset itself and the van would run fine for a while. This went on for a few months, then we decided to have the transmission checked(because every one we know with chrysler vans has had the transmission replaced at some time), and the mechanic told us that the computer just needed to be reset,so we had it done. The van ran well for a few more months and then the troubles started up again only worse. …”

NHTSA complaint #713310, filed 1999-10

“We purchased our mini van in november 1996 and had the first transmission failure less than 2 months later and had the same problem repaired 3 times more in the 3 years we have owned it. In april 1996, a recall was issued for the ABS of this make/model/year. When we purchased it, the dealership did not tell us this nor did chrysler corp. We found out after our ABS failed when driving. Luckily we were not involved in an accident. It then failed again 6 months after they fixed the ABS in february 2000. They will not do the repair now for under $1600--we don't think we should be paying anything! …”

NHTSA complaint #720114, filed 2000-03

“I have given up on the dealer, van has had trans replaced,cv joints,AC compressor, and many more items fall apart, no one can find a reason for front hitting ground over potholes, replaced shocks and struts didn't fix widowed mom with 3 youngsters can you do anything to help--still owe $$$on this piece.”

NHTSA complaint #718902, filed 2000-02

“Transmission (this model a604 4 speed) is known to have high failure rate by public and chrysler. The first time it failed was on a weekend and I had to take it to aamco to have repaired. They used oem parts to manufacturers specifications. The second time was same failure as the first. The manufacturer refuses to make restitution because of aamco fixing the chrsler caused problem in the first place.”
