“Headlight lenses cloud up un many of these vehicles to the point it restricts the amount of light that passes through the lens which in turn gives poor visability. If the manufacturers choose to continue using these covers then they should replace them free of charge when cloudy.. This is a safety hazard.”
NHTSA complaint #10114475, filed 2005-03, 150,000 miles“I am a teacher and leave for work early in the morning. I live on an unlit semirural road with no sidewalks. Children walk along the road in order to get to the schoolbus stop at the end of my block. I came very close to striking a group of children because although my lights were on and I was driving very slowly I could not see them in the early morning light/darkness. …”
NHTSA complaint #711288, filed 2000-04“About two weeks ago I reported that the headlight lenses on my Plymouth Voyager, 1992, have become so fogged over that it is nearly impossible to see when driving with the headlights on. I have seen other vehicles of this make with similar conditions. I asked if I should take it to a dealer and if lthey are required to replace the clouded lenses. So far I have not had any response from you. Winter darkness is coming on and I will be doing a lot more driving with my headlights on and would like this problem taken care of. I drive almost 200 miles per day and am very concerned.”
NHTSA complaint #712912, filed 1999-10“When vehicle is put in reverse rear lights will not function, dealer sold vehicle in this condition. Ignition key is turned, starter does not turn over, starter and battery tested and o.k., safety switch replaced and problem persists.”
