“I bought my van on 03/02/2012. It was inspected on 03/03/2012. On 03/08/2012 I was driving and it was all over the road and very hard to control. I stopped at monroe muffler and had the tires checked, they were fine. I made an appointment to have the van totally checked on 03/12/2012. I was told I had a bad tie rod and ball joint and that they should not have passed inspection. I have tried several times to contact the dealer and he now seems to be avoiding me. I have four kids and need the van fixed and safe asap.”
NHTSA complaint #10451379, filed 2012-03“While making a right turn there is a banging noise which sounds like something may fall out and cause a crash. Dealer replaced steering rack and pinion twice and struts. There was a crack k frame which the dealer had to weld back together, but the problem is still occurring. Dealer could not determine cause of the problem. Please provide further information.”
NHTSA complaint #865038, filed 2000-07“I have a 1992 dodge minivan awd and 1994 Plymouth minivan awd. Both have had sway bar break completely but within mount on drivers side so cannot be discovered until it later actually falls off. This break is not visible by professional examination on hoist. So - in effect one has no sway bar.”
NHTSA complaint #761913, filed 2002-05“Steering control was lost due to the tie rod end completely separating, the consumer feels this failure should be included in the warranty plan, the dealer is refusing coverage for the component.”
NHTSA complaint #554940, filed 2000-09“Front end virbates & shakes while driving at 60 or more MPH. Vehicle been inspected and front wheels aligned & balanced by independent shop, and problem still occurs. Seeking help from NHTSA in this matter.”
