“While driving about 55 MPH on the highway the vehicle stalled without prior warning, the dealer is aware of the problem, please provide any additional information.”
NHTSA complaint #10003983, filed 2003-01, 86,000 miles“Starting in early 1996 the van started to stall when slowing to a stop. This did not occur every time I stopped, and it was very unpredictable as to when it would happen. The dealership in ft. Walton beach couldn't find a problem, but cleaned the fuel injectors and throttle body to try to see if that was the problem. It seemed to help, but a few weeks later the problem resurfaced. Over the last three months I have had this problem come and go with no solution in sight. I moved to california last year and the dealership in lancaster could not find a solution. …”
NHTSA complaint #708551, filed 1999-07“In last two weeks alone van has stalled 5 times. Van is constantly in the shop for stalling. The problem is very intermittent but seems to be more affected by adverse weather. When it rains or snows or there is high humidity I am very concerned that my van will stall. The problem can not be duplicated while it is in the shop. It has even been hosed down to try to get the proper wet conditions that seem to make it stall. I have counted a minimum of 38 reports on your website (listed under different categories, I.e., engine, defroster, brakes, other parts) so I assume this is a major concern. …”
NHTSA complaint #719376, filed 2000-02“Vehicle experienced an under hood fire. The consumer noticed smoke while driving. She pulled over and at that time the smoke was clear. She noticed the smoke turned black and exited the vehicle. When she looked under the vehicle, there were little flames. There were no injuries.”
NHTSA complaint #10047824, filed 2003-11“I have experiance many problems of stalling when slowing down,no problem in restarting and it may go for several days no problems then it may stall again without worning.can be dangerous on freeways.dealer can not find cause.have taken it to 3 different dealers,no luck.what is the fix!!!”
