“On pressing the accelerator pedal, there is a noticeable hesitation before the powertrain responds. I fear one day getting t boned (side impact) from another motorist that is unable to stop or not realizing this is happening to me and not slow down quick enough. This is only noticeable from accelerating from takeoff as in later gears the response from accelerator to response is faster. I bought this truck used almost 2 months ago and dealerships and Ram cummins forums site this as a common problem!”

NHTSA complaint #11145266, filed 2018-11, 67,000 miles

“The integrated trailer brake control in the 2015 Ram trucks does not provide adequate brake control to the trailer brakes. I traded in a 2013 Ram 3500 and the integrated controller allowed me to set up the brakes so I could lock the tires up, then I would back the voltage down slightly from there to get maximum braking performance from the trailer. With the new truck, there wasn't the ability to get much braking at all. Dealers are telling those with the same trucks, that it is working as designed and there isn't a problem. Monday, august 17th, I was approaching a stop sign, and began braking. …”

NHTSA complaint #10749880, filed 2015-08, 405 miles

“Integrated trailer brake controller not functioning properly cannot apply enough voltage and amperage to trailer brakes to properly stop whether stopped or while moving, maximum gain cannot apply enough stopping power. 3 trailer experts have told me the power is insufficient trailer brakes have been serviced”

NHTSA complaint #11350645, filed 2020-08, 20,000 miles

“Two years and repeated visits to determine a gross lack of acceleration. Almost non responsive at times. Also a gear shift slam at times. Dangerous lack of power to accelerate to cross multiple lanes, acceleration at metered on ramps and crossing against traffic. Have all service records for past two years, at least two separate dealership service departments and no change in performance or solution to issue”

NHTSA complaint #10971032, filed 2017-04, 100 miles

“When starting from a stationary or near stationary position, the truck will hesitate for 1-2 seconds if the accelerator is fully depressed. The acceleration must be slow and gradual to avoid the hesitation. The is dangerous when slowly merging into traffic.”
