“I keep having issues where radar cruise and lane assist shut off randomly with the message that radar cruise is unavailable . This has happened since new and has been looked at by Toyota 4 times with no repair”

NHTSA complaint #11307817, filed 2020-02, 11,500 miles

“I am reporting a severe, recurring safety hazard on my 2020 Toyota Corolla. The vehicle suddenly displays 'Drive-Start Control Malfunction' and completely cuts off engine power in motion, leaving the car stranded in active traffic. This happened after accelerating from a STOP sign on a main avenue. This is an inherent manufacturing defect present since delivery. In total, this chronic electrical surge has burned through 6 batteries and 3 Engine Control Modules (ECMs) at different mileages. …”

NHTSA complaint #11770186, filed 2026-10

“I was going to work on 12/15/2022. There was a stop sign and I needed to take a right turn in order to join the freeway-10 east highway to head on to work. it was about 6: 40 am approximate time. There were too many cars ahead of me at the stop sign. My brakes failed to hold on while I waited for my turn. There were at least 3-4 cars ahead of me. Therefore I did not want to hurt anyone or any other car ahead of me. Therefore I veered off to my right-hand side where there was some space and tried to stop the car but it did not do so. …”

NHTSA complaint #11512454, filed 2023-03

“When using cruise control, all warning lights come on while driving - check engine, parking, abs, everything. It stays like this for about a week and then stops until the next time you use cruise control. I have taken to the dealer and they acted like it wasn’t a problem and turned off the lights but it still keeps happening.”

NHTSA complaint #11465629, filed 2022-05

“Dealer stated that there was a chemical buildup on the inside of the windshield that could affect the safety camera sensor (they claimed it was probably windex). Dealership claimed that the camera enclosure is not sealed and particulate may enter the enclosure. Said the problem is not covered under warranty. What happens is someone is a smoker or lives on a dirt road? Does Toyota expect particulate in the enclosure to be acceptable? This may impact the performance of the safety systems, especially if there is sun glare. I bought the car in october 2019.”
