Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“When driving off from a stop it seemed like my car was hesitating when pressing the gas. Has done this a few times now, the first time I was not sure if that happened or not. But after about the fifth time I’m like what’s going on. I have just over 4000 miles on my car. When you pull out in traffic and your car won’t pickup speed you’re waiting for a rear end collision. I was reading online where others have had the same problem. When I go for my 5000 mile check will ask the dealer about it but I’m sure they will say no not any problems. …”

“2024 Crown Hybrid system keeps popping up on dash saying warm lamp came on twice: third time Warning lamp turned. Vehicle has been serviced twice at same dealer and then taken to another for same problem. The problem has not been resolved. Dealership indicates cannot duplicate problem. I have even shown the dealership from photo and not able to resolve.”

NHTSA complaint #11740408, filed 2026-05

“When vehicles comes to a stop, sometimes there is a hesitation in vehicle acceleration. Vehicle will jerk, then accelerate 3-4 seconds after pressing down throttle. Car does not provide or show error codes. There is currently a Toyota Service Bulletin for the exact same issue for the Toyota highlander (TSB-0017-24) which address the issue Hesitation felt while accelerating at low speeds. And the fix involves a software update for the engine control unit. …”

NHTSA complaint #11750146, filed 2026-07

“2024 Crown Platinum 5k miles. This incident has happened several times. The car will completely stall out, have no power, won’t move. It’s random at times and other times it after a stop sign, yield, or slow down in speed. When you go to give it gas you have to stick the gas pedal to the floor and pray it will go. It always comes out of it, but takes a few seconds to get it together. It’s like it doesn’t know what mode it’s in- hybrid or power, so it sits and thinks about it. This could be deadly in the right situation.”
