“Whether I'm driving or parked with the engine running, the car shuts down completely. I cant turn on the hazard lights or roll down the power windows. I have no lights whatsoever, so no one can see me at night. I had the car towed to the dealership after a bus almost rear-ended me. Previously they replaced the alternator. That did not fix the problem. They cannot fix my car.”

“This just happend to me on the morning of 07/26/2012. I was on a business trip and leaving the airport. As I was about to pay my parking fee the driver side door started smoking and I saw a small fire starting to flare up on the driver's seat door by the window switch. I turned off the car and within 3 minutes the whole door was up in flames.”

NHTSA complaint #10468126, filed 2012-07, 85,000 miles

“My airbag light was on. When I took my car in for the annual state inspection, I was informed that I would have to replace the spiral cable for airbag light that had shorted out. The assembly was replaced at a total cost of $442.01. This vehicle has had an earlier recall for an airbag sensor and I feel that this should be a safety recall issue as well and not the financial responsibility of the car owner.”

“I purchased a new 2007 RAV4 from Toyota of braintree in 2007. 1. In 2009 I could hear wind in the driver's window; I took the vehicle to be checked, Toyota service department said I was hearing things. 2.the driver's door caught fire (I had the keys with me) I had to spend $606.01 to fix it, Toyota said there was water intrusion (I thought, it probably was, because of the air leak previously reported in 2009) 3. …”
